You have done the hard part, finding a great set of handmade nunchaku, now you need to maintain and protect your new nunchaku set.

Your nunchaku are not dipped in Polyethylene. They are the natural hardwood handles with oil hand coated into the grain. They should not be left in the direct sun light, or in humid environments for long periods of time. Do not get your nunchaku wet or submerge them in water. Extreme cold can also be a bad idea for oiled hardwoods so be sure to keep your nunchaku from cold weather.

Inspect Rope Before Use

Make sure to always check your nunchaku rope for any wear and tear. The rope on all nunchaku will deteriorate over a period of time depending on use. Make sure to inspect your sets for any tears or breakdowns in the rope fiber. If defects are found, replace with new rope as soon as possible.

Avoid Hard Surfaces

Try to practice on surfaces that will be forgiving if your drop your nunchaku. A normal lawn or grass area is excellent for practice while concrete, asphalt and other hard surfaces can easily crack or fracture your set if they are dropped.
